What should i think of this?

okay im 17, in high school, and you know how every school has their clique? well i guess im like popular/stoner/just an average kid idk :/...anyways one day in my class this kid sat next to me, hes pretty up there on the scale of popular people. During class we worked on our assignments and we started talking. At the end of class he asked for my number. Then 2 classes later he asked me out to the movies. im so confused. im a pretty girl n stuff...but i just feel like popular people go out with other popular people. thats just how ive always seen it.
