I have a question about Ebay/Paypal payments?

I am a little new at paypal so I would appreciate any help I can get. Usually, I can purchase an item with no trouble, but recently, I bought an item through paypal but the status is "denied". I think it was maybe because I was not verified on my paypal account. I have my debit card visa as my payment source on my account but it says to link it to my bank account by adding my routing number and account number on checks. Since I have a debit card, I was never given a checkbook. Is it possible to put my parent's bank account on there (I am just under 18) and get verified? If yes, will it charge not to my debit card but to my parent's account instead? Thank you very much for any help! I appreciate it!
