Who should i be friends with?

im about to go into high school and i have 6 close friends 2 of them are doing cheerleading with me next year (basketball) but they r on jv im on varsity . the other two are awesome but we are kinda dorks not really popular but me personally i dont just go up to strangers and start a conversation im kinda socially awkward... so next year who should i hang out with? someone answer who is actually someone in high school and knows about this and knows the cliques of high school
